Ikea Kvartal Curtain Track Clip for LED Strips
thingiverse
I wanted to install a LED strip on my Ikea Kvartal curtain track system and discovered an effective solution for standard 12mm self-adhesive LED strips. Since the track is only 20mm away from the ceiling, placing the LEDs on top wasn't an option, as you would have seen spots from each LED. Therefore, I came up with this simple clip-on system that is slightly angled towards the ceiling by about 5°. All you need to get started is a flat strip of 15x2mm aluminium in the matching length (I used three 2m strips for my living room wall and obtained them from a hardware store or home depot). You will also require a few of these clips, with one clip suggested every 50-80cm. Just print the clips, test the fit with your aluminium strip, then push them into the top of your Kvartal track. The clip should snap securely in place and remain movable along the track. Then, snap the aluminium strip into the holder by placing it in the top of the clip and pushing down gently but firmly. For rounded corners, you may need to pre-bend the strip and use additional clips if necessary. Apply your 12mm LED strip before or after installing the aluminium strip on the track. The adhesive film should isolate the LED strip, while the aluminium will help with cooling the strip. However, make sure to check the strip for short circuits before plugging it in. The clips and LEDs are almost invisible until you stand below the curtain. As far as I know, Ikea has discontinued the Kvartal curtain track system, but it can be found on eBay from time to time or maybe you already own one.
