We place a KNARREVIK side table beside our couch and it doesn't have much surface area. My wife required a spot to put her Chromebook when she's not using it. The two pieces fit onto existing screws, which can then be tightened down through the holes at the back. It should hold a laptop that is up to 22mm thick. The holder is designed wide enough so a laptop will safely slot in regardless of the angle or how off-center it is when you slide it in.
