Ikea Kickboard Extension Hack
thingiverse
Human: The kickboard clips provided by Ikea were too short for the effect I had envisioned, so I created my own. The fixed length of the original clips was fine, but the mounts on the cupboards, which clip onto the feet, are set back differently from the sides compared to the front, a discrepancy of around 11cm. They didn't require structural integrity; they just needed to hold themselves together and prevent the kickboard from falling over, making it an easy decision. I printed a couple of these clips (a bit rough as seen in the photos) but they worked perfectly. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i3 Rework Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 30% Notes: Printed with a skirt (5mm) and using the above settings in ABS filament. Infill didn't need to be increased as the perimeters restricted infill anyway, and everything had structural ribs making it extremely stable dimensionally - accidentally printing the extension piece upright showed how stable it was, which I believe was proof of this fact. I would recommend printing it flat (at least with FDM) because this orientation is more suitable for the final use. Post-Printing: Screw fit: It turned out that I hadn't left enough space for the screws I had on hand.....there was enough room in the surroundings to drill it out a bit - including the countersink. To ensure its security, I finished it off with a little superglue so that it wouldn't fray or split.
