IKEA Kallax Vinyl record backstop
thingiverse
These are intended to serve as a "backstop" for full size vinyl records when stored in the IKEA Kallax shelves. They are sized as such to have the records be flush with the front of the shelves and lined up together. You would mount these in the rear of the Kallax on each space where you have vinyl records. There are two files - but the "left" and "right" don't really mean anything. They are just to differentiate the two sides. For each space you will need one of each. Each one has a small lip on one side that will align them front to back. Once this is aligned, you will need to use small stubby screws to attach them to the shelf. There are two holes per side, you likely only need one screw per side. The reason I made 4 total screw holes is to allow you to stagger the screws from side to side as to avoid them from colliding with each other head on. I also plan on mounting ours in a way that each backstop always has at least one screw into actual wood. The Kallax of course is a combination of the hollow "wood" and real wood. So in our case some spaces will have the backstops on the bottom, and others with them on top. It may work fine going into the "fake IKEA wood" but I doubt it will be a very solid anchor. I honestly haven't even had time to try these yet (not to mention I need more filament at the moment :) ). I made a few prototypes and dry fitted them and they seem to do what I intended so far. When finished, the records will stop at the lattice flat side. I used ABS for mine, but PLA would probably work fine (maybe go to 30% infill for PLA ?). I use brims for nearly everything to help with bed adhesion. I did a few tests with outer and inner brims - and the lattice triangles took forever to remove the inner brim. I'm going to try just outer brim next time. This does need supports. I print lattice side flat. I used organic tree supports but you should use whatever works best for you and your printer. On my Bambu X1c (256mm) I am able to get both pieces on a single plate but it's a pretty tight fit with the prime tower.
