IKEA ivar filament roller/holder
thingiverse
I have an Anet A8 and the filament holder is a real letdown, so I headed to Thingiverse in search of a better solution. I placed my Anet A8 on an IKEA IVAR shelf in my storage room, but couldn't find a suitable roller for my needs, so I took matters into my own hands and remixed one from scratch. I was drawn to this design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2016985/) specifically for the Anet A8, but didn't want to overload the frame with extra weight, which could potentially damage print quality. I also considered this alternative (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2041772), but it took up too much space, a luxury I couldn't afford. So, I remixed those two designs to fit perfectly on my IKEA IVAR shelf and retained the side panels for easy attachment to a flat surface in the future. To assemble this project, download the wheels from here (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2041772). The rod is made from a hollow 8mm aluminum tube. Be advised that IKEA recently modified their IVAR boards, reducing them from 20mm to 19mm thickness. This modification was implemented in the past and may affect users with older models. If anyone requires adjustments for the thinner version, I can make the necessary updates.
