IKEA IVAR bookend bracket

IKEA IVAR bookend bracket

thingiverse

A bracket to fit IKEA IVAR shelf verticals (side unit) for inserting additional horizontal bars. I use them to create fences or lips to stop stuff (mainly books) from falling off the ends of the shelves or migrating from one shelf to an adjacent one. Two brackets and a 430mm long piece of wood (for 500mm Ivar) make one rail. It's designed so that it fits between two immediately adjacent shelves without blocking any shelf support positions except the ones where pegs are inserted, allowing for insertion above or below a shelf. The SCAD file is parameterized with options to adjust: * The thickness and depth of the recess in the bracket (to fit the wood being used as a rail) * The vertical position of the bottom of the recess relative to the pegs * How far the bracket projects from the vertical at top and bottom (mainly for aesthetics) * A text label on the concealed face to identify the bracket with adjustable text size Descriptive notes are included in the SCAD file's header. STL files are provided for a 9mm wide slot set, with the bottom of the bracket flush with the bottom of a shelf set in holes below the ones where the bracket is inserted. The 'straight' file has a constant 10mm width, while the 'taper' file tapers from 20mm to 10mm. I printed these brackets in Das Filament Grau PLA, which closely matches the color of the plastic bars on genuine IKEA shelves.
