IKEA FLOALT panel recessed
thingiverse
I was let down when IKEA didn't offer recessed LED panels. As a result, I purchased the IKEA FLOALT panel in 30x30cm size and made it recessed for my bathroom. Each panel is recessed by being hung on a 12.5cm ceiling plate. For each panel, I used three specific fingers: one with a single hole, one with two holes that are 8mm apart, and one with two holes that are 10mm apart. The dimensions of the panel reflect the distance between these holes. Pictures: Step 1: Remove the part above the panel. Step 2: This is how it looks after that step. Step 3: Unscrew three screws out of a total of five at different positions. Step 4: Use the fingers as described to create the recessed effect. Step 5: This is what one finger looks like before modification. Step 6: This is what one finger looks like after tightening it in place. Step 7: This shows how all the panels look when installed. Step 8: Place the panel on top of the ceiling by moving it diagonally into position. Step 9: Here's a shot of one panel after installation. Step 10: After removing all plastic, this is what my bathroom ceiling looks like now. If you want to make any adjustments to the recessed part, I've uploaded my SolidWorks files for your reference.
