Ikea ERIK cabinet third drawer locking mechanism

After purchasing the Ikea ERIK with three drawers, I was dissatisfied with the fact that only two out of three drawers could be secured. To address this issue, I designed and installed two small ledges on top of the top drawer, which can be screwed in place. This modification prevents the top drawer from opening while the middle drawer is closed. By positioning the drawer equipped with a lock at the bottom of the cabinet, the original locking mechanism effectively prevents both the bottom and middle drawers from being opened. Additionally, when the middle drawer is closed, it also blocks access to the top drawer, thereby securely locking all three drawers in place. One potential drawback of this solution is that opening the top drawer necessitates the simultaneous sliding open of the middle drawer. Despite this, I am willing to accept this compromise, given the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.
