Repurpose an Ikea dresser drawer into a chic dog bed by following these steps! You'll need the drawer and its hardware, along with six M3x8mm machine screws, woodworking tools, a metric tap and die set, a 1/8" all-purpose drill bit, sandpaper (80-120, 150 grit), two nails or pins, cord or string, a sharpened pencil, eye protection, and ear protection. First, remove rails from the drawer, retaining mounting screws. Then, disassemble the drawer, keeping all hardware. Next, use the back panel as a template to rip cut the front panel's bottom edge, leaving equal distance to the dado for the floor. Sand the ripped surface with 80-120 grit sandpaper. Scribe and cut out a half-ellipse on the back panel's top edge using a jigsaw or similar method. Continue sanding with 150, then 120 grit sandpaper. Reassemble all parts but the floor, stain/paint as desired, and print four feet and six supports. Clean out screw bores in supports, tap M3 threads, and mark four evenly spaced points on the drawer floor to drill for screws. After painting dries, slide the floor into the dados, secure with feet and rails' screws, and install a support at each drilled hole. Finally, create a cushion by choosing fabric, cutting rectangles, stuffing with poly-fill, and sewing closed.
