IKEA dresser bar support
thingiverse
A crucial support component for a horizontal bar featured in an IKEA dresser closet unit whose exact name currently eludes me. The original vertical support, as seen in the accompanying pictures, is crafted from a slightly pliable material that has visibly yielded under the weight it once held. In contrast, the replacement part I designed is noticeably longer and boasts three robust nobs instead of two for added stability. To reinforce this structural element, I strategically made several precise cutouts, ensuring it can bear significant vertical loads. The design parameters for this critical component include a width of 26mm, an impressive height of 80mm, and a sturdy bar diameter of 18mm. Furthermore, the nobs are carefully spaced at 32mm apart and feature a diameter of approximately 4.55mm, with each boasting a respectable depth of 5mm. I am eager to create more intricate designs in OpenSCAD, but this was an excellent first project for me; its speedy construction allowed me to bypass the time-consuming process of refinement and optimization. Print Settings * Printer Brand: RepRap * Printer: Hephestos * Rafts: Yes * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2mm per layer * Infill: 20% Notes In order to circumvent support material, I cleverly positioned the object at a deliberate angle of 45% on the bottom side. This intelligent strategy eliminated the need for supports altogether. While a brim was specified in Cura, printing without one might be possible with a reliable bed adhesion system. Post-Printing Unfortunately, the STL file generated a visible artifact around the second nob/pin; this defect necessitated the removal of some excess material using fine-grit files. Removing some minor stringing concluded my finishing touches to this innovative design, ensuring a seamless fit and functionality upon assembly
