IKEA Daidai Vaxer Lid

IKEA Daidai Vaxer Lid

I designed a simple lid for Ikea's Daidai 9cm pot, enabling users to place vaxer plant pots inside with ease. The design works well, but requires some refinement regarding magnet placement. After months of testing, it became clear that magnets are unnecessary, as the lids remain stable due to the weight of the plants themselves. However, a problem arises when large plants grow, such as cauliflower in the picture, causing the pots to fall over inside the lid. To address this issue, I added a cover that can be placed over the netpot on top of the lid and glued down to prevent this from happening. To cater to different pot sizes, I also created versions for 12cm and 22cm Daidai pots. These lids have been successfully used in a kratky system, resulting in an abundance of herbs, more than can be consumed. For optimal printing results, I recommend using a 0.3mm layer height with PLA or PETG materials. While PLA is suitable, PETG offers additional benefits: it allows users to put the lids in the dishwasher for easy cleaning and sanitization after use.
