To add a second shelf to a desk, I built a monitor shelf using the IKEA Besta Shelf. My reason for creating this remix was to provide an extra keyboard stand - nothing more, nothing less. Since I didn't plan to use the cable holders, I removed them to keep things simple. IKEA Besta Shelf - 6.25" depth - $3.00
