I've loved my Ikea Alex drawers for the last decade but alas, always HATED those notches on the front for pulling, always getting dirt into my drawers. Since I recently joined the ranks of 3d printing noobs and wanted to try my hand at fixing this longstanding annoyance.

Found these handles by Whity (remixed from the original on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2939638 ) and very much liked the base design that is, just an insert, not needing to drill and add screws to attach.

Tinkered with the design on Tinkercad, using the original notch insert part as the base, and made several design changes to make it a bit more sleek, such as shortening the handle height and making the drawer front (visible piece behind the actual handle) thinner. In my test pieces printed in PETG I did not find that these made the piece less durable (infill was only printed at 10%, with 4 gradual infill steps in Cura) The handle was changed to a curved piece, and left open on top so that a top or bottom grip could be used to pull the drawer out.

Yes, my test print (pictured) had an unfortunately shifting issue partway through, I will add better pics once I've printed out a whole set of these for myself.

Holes for optional screws from original design are maintained, if you want that

PLA would be fine, I am currently printing with PETG

No supports needed

Infill – suit to your needs, I did a 10% gradual stepped infill on my PETG test print and they felt solid enough to me
