IJN Fusō class / Yamashiro
thingiverse
Fusō, a legendary battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy, was the lead ship of its class. Launched in 1914 and commissioned in 1915, she initially patrolled China's coast during World War I, remaining unscathed throughout the conflict. In 1923, Fusō bravely assisted survivors of Japan's devastating Great Kantō earthquake. Modernized twice, once from 1930 to 1935 and again from 1937 to 1941, Fusō's armor and propulsion systems received significant upgrades. Her superstructure was rebuilt in the iconic pagoda mast style. However, with only 14-inch guns, she lagged behind other Japanese battleships at the war's outset. Fusō served as Vice-Admiral Shōji Nishimura's flagship during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. On October 25, 1944, she met her demise in Surigao Strait when torpedoes and naval gunfire struck her. According to survivors' accounts, Fusō sank after a mere 40 minutes of flooding, claiming only 10 lives among its crew.
