IGUS RJMP-01-08 Bearing Block

This is a bearing block for the Igus RJM-01-08 DryLin R Solid Plastic Bearing, 8 mm ID. Many printers use the SC8UU Bearing Block for LM8UU Linear Bearings. Anyone who has purchased the Igus RJM-01-08 knows its dimensions are not exactly like LM8UU linear bearings. The Igus RJM-01-08 is slightly wider and longer, making it impossible to fit in existing SC8UU blocks. I really enjoy having SC8UU Bearing Blocks for my printer but wanted to upgrade my LM8UU bearings to Igus RJM-01-08 bearings. The LM8UU bearings are loud, heavy, and once a ball falls out, they are useless. I searched Thingiverse previously and couldn't find what I was looking for, so I designed a new block from scratch in Fusion 360. This block has the same hole pattern as SC8UU. No drilling required. It should be a drop-in replacement for your printer's Y-Axis. It may also be a drop-in replacement for the X-Axis depending on how close your bearing blocks are on the X-Axis. Success with these blocks: You will need (qty 4) M4 screws, any length between 10mm-20mm. (qty. 4) M4 nuts. (qty 1) 5/8 internal snap ring. Unfortunately, your SC8UU has two internal snap rings, but neither can be used because they are too small for the new block. UPDATE: You can use Thingiverse's http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2103292 instead of purchasing a 5/8 internal snap ring to hold the bearing in place! Big thanks to http://www.thingiverse.com/BogdanKecman! Assembly: Lightly tap the Igus RJM-01-08 bearing into the block with the wider opening until it touches the back side. Insert the 5/8 internal snap ring into the wider opening to secure the bearing in the block. The snap ring should fit securely into the groove. Insert the four M4 nuts into the side openings and secure to the printer with M4 screws. Comparison of weight: The original SC8UU with LM8UU Bearing weighs 47 grams each, quite heavy. My printed block with Igus RJM-01-08 bearing weighs only 18 grams, a noticeable difference especially when using three blocks on each axis.
