IGUS linear bearing hopup for the E3D BigBox
thingiverse
I'm still fine-tuning tolerances for the IGUS bearing with orange coloration. However, I'm not finished testing various materials yet. I'm currently experimenting with the RJMP-01-08/RJ4JP-01-08 linear bearing from IGUS as a hop-up mechanism to replace the rather loud and subpar (at least my) LM8UU bearings that came shipped with BigBoxes. Unfortunately, this means remixing carriages for both x- and y-axis setups since current clamps will cause short IGUS bearings to kink and bind up. I'm mostly done with x-axis carriages, but still need to finish the y-axis carriages while z-axis is plug-and-play ready. Notes on design and chosen method of fixing the IGUS bearing: I've decided to use recesses for fixing o-rings and press-fit the bearings into carriages from there. This approach should keep everything centered and theoretically sound dampened.
