Bearing Blocks are used by most 3D Printers to allow for movement along one or more axis in combination with Linear Bearings. This particular combination bypasses the need for the use of Ball Bearings. This allows for the same basic movements to be performed with a lesser of degree of noise and wear to the smooth rods. Lubrication is also no longer needed. The bearings used in V1 are Igus Part# RJ4JP-01-08 as obtained from them and should fit over an 8mm smooth rod. The bearing blocks are made for the Wanhao Duplicator i3. Keep in Mind that I have not used these blocks to print yet BUT, have placed them over an 8mm rod and they are very smooth. I also spent some time ensuring that printing is made easier and that there are no gaps in the blocks. ◘ALTHOUGH THIS COMBINATION IS MY CREATION AS A WHOLE, ITS BASIC BUILDING BLOCKS WERE MADE BY OTHERS AND CREDIT SHOULD GO TO "tahustvedt" FOR THE BEARING BLOCKS AND "Igus-USA" FOR THE BEARINGS THEMSELVES. ☺ Print Settings Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2+ Infill: 15-100% Notes: ◘For the Wanhao Duplicator i3, Print 2 Cut & 1 Uncut for the X Axis Carriage. ◘I highly recommend using Igus Filament to print these bearings as that is what they recommend, however, it is very very very expensive. And so, you should try PETG or ABS first. I used only 15% infill and the part is very strong, but you can always go higher. Resolution shouldn't Matter. ◘Keep in mind that there will be some shrinkage in the material as it cools. If this happens, you have 2 options: Ask and provide exact changes that you would like and I'll resize it accordingly, OR, use a file or drill to make the opening larger. Also keep in mind that they will eventually conform to the rods and become smoother as you use them. ◘DO NOT USE PLA as it will deform under the heat generated by the movement.
