Igus DryLin 8mm Bearing & Block Combination (LM8UU)
thingiverse
Bearing Blocks are used by most 3D Printers to allow for movement along one or more axis in combination with Linear Bearings, which enables same basic movements to be performed with a lesser degree of noise and wear to smooth rods. This setup also eliminates the need for lubrication. The bearings utilized in V1 are Igus Part# RJ4JP-01-08, obtained from them and designed to fit over an 8mm smooth rod. The bearing blocks were made specifically for the Wanhao Duplicator i3. It is essential to note that I have not printed with these blocks yet, but they were placed over an 8mm rod and found to be very smooth. Additionally, time was spent ensuring printing is made easier and there are no gaps in the blocks. While this combination is my creation as a whole, its basic building blocks were created by others, and credit should go to "tahustvedt" for the bearing blocks and "Igus-USA" for the bearings themselves. Printer Settings: * Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2+ * Infill: 15-100% Notes: For the Wanhao Duplicator i3, Print 2 Cut & 1 Uncut for the X Axis Carriage. I highly recommend using Igus Filament to print these bearings as that is what they recommend; however, it is extremely expensive. Therefore, try PETG or ABS first. I used only 15% infill and found the part to be very strong, but you can always increase it. Keep in mind that there will be some shrinkage in the material as it cools. If this happens, you have two options: ask for exact changes, which I'll resize accordingly, or use a file or drill to make the opening larger. Also, keep in mind that they will eventually conform to the rods and become smoother with use. Do not use PLA as it will deform under the heat generated by movement.
