I am crafting a sub-250 gram 3-inch drone capable of capturing excellent long/mid-range HD footage. Securing all system antennas, including video transmission, control link, and GPS, is essential to gaining confidence in deploying the small device far out. I chose the iFlight iH3 (v3) as the foundation for my latest project because I appreciate its dual 20x20mm layout, absence of props in view, and top-mounted battery. However, I struggled with positioning all antennas to achieve consistently good link quality. This is my latest attempt at creating a tailpiece that serves multiple functions: 1) Mount an Immortal-T antenna as far up and away from carbon and lipo as possible. 2) Position the VTX antenna in the same manner. 3) Securely hold a high-quality GPS unit, opting for the original SAM-M8Q modules found on the Matek SAM-M8Q or Drotek DP0401. 4) Hold a 10mm capacitor. 5) Route the power cable gently away from the props. I combined elements from M_Tops and grou69 to design a two-piece tail held together by an M3 screw and Locknut.
