iFlight Cidora SL5 and Titan XL5 Mateksys M8Q-5883 GPS Bracket
thingiverse
After experiencing GPS module failures due to crashes on previous builds, I designed a new bracket that securely mounts the Mateksys M8Q-5883 GPS module on top of the iFlight Cidora SL5 and Titan XL5 frames. The existing M3 screws are long enough to firmly secure the bracket while providing sufficient penetration into the metal stand-offs for a sturdy frame. I have thoroughly tested this design through numerous crashes, and the results show that the GPS module remains securely in place, with the frame holding up perfectly. To further enhance the protection of the GPS module, I recommend adding a 2-3mm thick piece of foam underneath it to absorb shocks and prevent any movement caused by differing connector heights or potential shipping damage. This design has significantly improved my RC experience, and I believe it will be equally beneficial for others who face similar challenges with their GPS modules. **Update - January 27, 2020**: Although the original bracket performed well in protecting the GPS module, I realized that there was room for improvement, particularly in terms of fit and internal modeling. I have since redesigned the bracket and it is currently undergoing rigorous testing. As soon as it's ready, I will upload the updated files. **Update - January 28, 2020**: New files have been uploaded, featuring a completely revised bracket design with improved overall fit, slimmer dimensions, and two versions: one with fillet edges and one with chamfer edges.
