iFactory Bearing Spool Roller 2020 Extrusion
thingiverse
I found that certain brands of spools would catch periodically during printing on the original metal jib arm holder that came supplied with the printer. Also the amound of force required to turn the spool on the original jib arm is quite excessive. I can't take credit for the original design by @ HugoHuge as I have only created the bracket that attaches this to the iFactory 3D belt printer. The bracket is designed to fit on the left hand front 45° angled 2020 extrusion and bolted all of the way through the lower of the two available (after full assembly) pre-drilled holes. Should you wish you can place anywhere along this track and just use a shorter bolt and attach to the top side only of the track.....I just like to go through things with bolts that's all :) It's up to you how you print, but for quickness v strength ratio I did the following: I printed everything @ 0.3lh 0.48lw 4 walls 40% infill Triangle pattern ~ 5hrs to print on iFactory. Raft: All parts for dimensional accuracy. Supports: At user discretion. Material: PLA (For 1kg spools), possibly PETG for heavier spools (As of yet untested). The STL files are orientated the way I chose to print (see included cura image), again it is up to you how you decide to orientate. The above method produces a very strong print in PLA that is more than adequate to hold a 1kg roll and possibly more (although this is untested). Being this runs on bearings it is really smooth and the force required by the extruder to turn the spool is negligible and a tenfold reduction of the original method. You will also require the following additional items to complete: 2 x 608 bearings for the roller 1 x 4mm x ~25mm suitable bolt (to attach all of the way through to the underside of the 2020 extrusion). You will only require ~10-12mm bolt if you decide to only fix into the topside track of the 2020 extrusion. 1 x T-Slot nut. I have also included an 'optional' Right Hand facing bracket for anyone wishing to mount smaller spools on the inside of the printer.
