Idler Pulley Conversion - 525 ZZ Bearing Cobblebot
thingiverse
I had some bearings leftover from my Cobblebot build and other spare parts that were just begging to be put to good use. To address a few issues I was experiencing with an upcoming belt system, I designed this conversion kit as a necessary solution. The two outer pieces snap snugly onto the outside of the bearings and each other to create perfectly proportioned flanges for a GT2 Timing belt to ride on with ease. These design tweaks were born out of frustration with larger pulleys creating overly spacious tracks for the belt, which, in some cases, could be detrimental to performance. This conversion kit is poised to address these concerns by providing a more tailored solution. Please note that these parts are engineered to provide an incredibly tight fit - 0.1mm and 0.2mm gaps respectively - to ensure stability and prevent unwanted movement when in operation. I built mine by hand, but if you're not working with perfectly calibrated printer settings, you may need to employ a vice or pliers to secure everything in place. Additionally, a gentle touch-up to refine the roundness of your prints might be necessary before everything fits together smoothly.
