Idler Arm
grabcad
An idler arm features a rod that rotates on a bracket affixed to the car's frame on one side and connects to a ball joint on the other. This component is usually positioned between the center link's opposite side from the Pitman arm and the vehicle's frame, maintaining the link at an appropriate height. Idler arms are more susceptible to wear than Pitman arms due to their pivoting function. If the idler arm has grease fittings, these should be lubricated with a grease gun during each oil change.
