Idle Pulley

Idle Pulley

I wasn't a fan of the idler pulleys on my Tevo Tarantula, as they wouldn't bolt down hard against the bearings like I wanted. Cheap idle pulleys compress against the bearings and bind, so you have to leave them slightly loose. I couldn't find a good source of quality pullies that met this requirement, so I thought I'd try making my own. I had some 5 x 11 x 4mm bearings lying around, although they're a bit small, they'll work fine. The pulley bracket I created uses MR115ZZ bearings, with two of them facing each other, allowing you to bolt them on tightly without binding. This gives you 8mm of space for a standard 6mm belt. These pulleys are designed for a 3mm bolt, but can be easily remixed for 5mm bolts or bigger bearings. To make one pulley, you'll need: 2 printed brackets, 2 MR115ZZ bearings, and 1 3mm motor screw (which comes with your printer).
