Idiot Stick

This is a take on an old puzzle called an Idiot Stick. Hook this onto a persons shirt button hole (ask them to not look as you do it) and have fun watching them try to remove it. It goes on in seconds and takes a while to remove even when you know the trick. We've seen people return the next day with it still on their shirts asking how to remove.Print stick and install a small string through the hole. Tie a knot in the string such that the length of the loop the string makes is just a bit shorter than the length of the stick from the hole the string goes through.  I like to use string that allows the ends to be melted with a flame so that you can seal the knot and make it near impossible to untie.Ask your subject to look away while you place the stick on their shirt. Ask which hole they would like it placed on and let them unbutton it for you. Place your thumb and index finger through the string loop and separate them from each other. Grab the button hole with those two fingers and pull the shirt fabric through the strings loop. This adds extra length and allows you to flip the stick over and tuck it through the button hole. Pull the stick through the button hole all the way securing the Idiot Stick onto the shirt.I will upload a video of how to put this on a shirt. Please subscribe and like and share. I've made one model with the words “Idiot Stick” that can have a filament stop added to change filament color if desired. I've also added a version without the text for a more politically correct statement. Bright colorful filament colors make this stand out on the subjects shirt to draw attention. I used PLA but I suppose anything will work. I created with TinkerCad and made the cylinder 7mm diameter with a 3mm diameter hole. I also like to print with “Supports on Build Plate Only” as it helps keep the stick attached while printing.
