We wanted to create a decorative piece that showcases your skills as a Maker, and what better way to do it than with a beautifully crafted calibration cube? This 60mm x 60mm x 7mm cube is perfect for testing the flatness of your bed and ensuring accurate bed adherence. The detailed lettering will give you a clear idea of how well your printer handles XY feature detail. We designed the model by importing our logo as an SVG file into Freecad, using similar techniques to those outlined in our guide on creating a 20mm 3D printer calibration cube (check out our latest article here: https://www.idig3dprinting.co.uk/news/how-to-guides/create-a-3d-printer-calibration-cube-in-freecad/). The results you see here were achieved using a Prusa i3 loaded with high-quality Ingeo PLA filament from 3Dom (get your hands on this amazing material at https://www.idig3dprinting.co.uk/product-category/3d-printer-filament/?filter_filament-type=129). Want to calibrate your Steps per mm on your 3D printer axes? Here's how: You can easily adjust the steps per minute for each axis by following these simple steps: - Define the expected dimension (e.g. y = 60mm, x = 60mm & z = 7mm) - Measure the observed dimension - Use the current steps per mm value (s1) and calculate a new value (s2) The calculation is straightforward: s2 = s1 x (e/o) For our print settings, we used: Layer Resolution: 0.28mm Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm Infill: 30% Duration of print: 51mins Filament used: 56cm (1.75mm diameter)
