IDIC, a Vulcan philosophy, celebrates the power of diversity. It's a fundamental idea that underpins the original Star Trek series. This IDIC medallion was showcased in an episode titled "Is There In Truth No Beauty," which features various shapes, materials, and textures to represent diversity. Given the importance of diversity in the JoCoCruise philosophy, I felt an IDIC would be a fitting symbol. However, I wasn't satisfied with the designs available on Thingiverse, so I created my own versions. There are two versions of the IDIC medallion. The first is a two-part design, where one piece should be gold and smooth, while the other should be silver and have a rough finish. If you're using Cura as your slicer, you can find a setting called "Fuzzy Skin" in the Experimental section to achieve this texture. This version will require an attachment for display. The second version is a three-part design made for embedded magnets. Print both magnet parts simultaneously, then pause the printer at the last level of the internal pockets and insert the magnets before resuming printing. Make sure you consider the polarity of the magnets beforehand. I source my magnets from KJ Magnetics, part number D61-N52. I designed this IDIC to hold a 9mm CZ pistol, which is affordable on Amazon. You can find it at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076WWKYQK/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_Y5ukDbJQX2DV7. To achieve the desired look, I used Hatchbox Silver, but unfortunately, it's currently unavailable from Hatchbox. I'm looking for an alternative. For the gold part, I opted for an off-brand material found on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XRPYXP2/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_s7ukDbF05HQCB. LLAP
