IDC 10-pin (2x5) strain relief clip
prusaprinters

This is a simple three-part strain relief clip for IDC 10-pin (2x5) female connectors.

I bought some IDC-10's on Aliexpress to use to build long LCD cables, and the strain relief clips that came with them were the wrong size (probably meant for IDC-12/2x6 connectors).

So rather than waiting 6 months :-P for another shipment from China to supply the correct clips, I took measurements of the existing ones, and designed my own at the correct size, split into three parts with simple mortise-and-tenon joints, so that they can print without supports.

These fit a little tight, but not excessively-so.

If you need a clip for a different size of 2-row IDC header, simply lengthen the middle part by 2.54 mm per extra pin pair.

2019-02-24.1: Minor tweak to the middle piece to add a "shoulder" on each end, so that it won't easily slide apart once installed into the header.

Print instructions

I recommend 0.1 mm layers or thinner, printed slow.

Shown here is SnoLabs orange PETG (color's a bit off in the photo due to lighting).
