IDC-10 (2x5) clamping tool
thingiverse
I'm gearing up to craft hundreds of IDC cables with both ends featuring an IDC plug, necessitating a custom tool for the job. To fabricate this indispensable gadget, I'm taking these specific steps: First, print it at a 45-degree angle to maximize its compact footprint on my workspace; next, ensure two distinct perimeter shells are generated during the printing process, reaching a maximum infill of 90% to augment overall robustness. Furthermore, maintain a 0.33mm layer height while setting a print speed cap between 50-60 mm/sec – these modifications collectively contribute towards a sturdier finished product. Once the printing process is complete, carefully embed (push firmly) the handles within a rectangular housing component; ensure a secure connection to achieve maximum efficacy. Noticeable enhancements have been integrated into the device's design: a spring-loaded clamping mechanism is in place, minimizing any gaps between its segments – while maintaining adaptability for easier assembly and disassembly as required.
