The Ictíneo II made its debut in 1864 as a state-of-the-art submersible vessel crafted by the visionary Spanish inventor Narciso Monturiol. Designed as an enhanced version of his earlier prototype, the Ictíneo I, which had successfully been launched in June 1859, this submarine marked a significant milestone in maritime history. Powered solely by steam, it broke new ground and set a precedent for future underwater exploration. On October 2, 1864, the Ictíneo II made its grand entrance at the Port of Barcelona, leaving an indelible mark on the world of innovation.
