Battery compartments specifically designed for ICOM's IC-E90 FM transceiver are now available, allowing users to replace the original battery packs BP-216 / BP-217 with standard rechargeable batteries. To get started, simply make the necessary contacts using materials like a tin can and then glue or solder them into place within the compartments. Three variants of these compartments exist: * A two-battery setup that accommodates 18500 LiIon cells * A four-battery configuration suitable for AA NiMh/NiCd/Alkaline batteries * A six-battery design also compatible with AA NiMh/NiCd/Alkaline batteries Each compartment includes a body and a matching lid, although the lid is optional for the two-battery setup and the four-battery variant. It's worth noting that ICOM's IC-E90 reduces transmitting power when operating below 6V, making it essential to use the two-battery or six-battery configurations to achieve full transmit power.
