ICOM IC-718 Handle
thingiverse
I wanted to get a carrying handle for my ICOM IC-718, so I looked into purchasing one from ICOM. However, I decided it would be easier and more cost-effective to design and print my own. The handle turned out great when printed with PLA, but I plan on reprinting it in ABS for added strength and flexibility. To make the handle even more comfortable and secure, I attached a strip of velcro to the back of it using its soft side. This velcro is designed to withstand even if the handle breaks, providing extra security for my expensive radio. I also made sure that the screws passing through the handle would prevent it from slipping out. The recommended M4-.70 x 10 screws are required in pairs. If you want to attach rubber feet on both ends of your radio, you will need four additional rubber feet and four more screws (pan head) measuring 4 x 1/2 inches long. I managed to find the necessary screws at my local hardware store, Lowe's, but you can also easily purchase them online for a low cost. Black screws would be a better choice aesthetically speaking. In the future, I might add an extra 1mm of thickness to the top of the handle brackets to give it even more stability and support.
