Icing (Frosting) Turntable or Cake Stand with Drawers made from Filament Spool
thingiverse
Until I switched to using 3DQF filament which comes on recyclable cardboard spools, I was using Amazon Basicfil filament and ending up with a lot of unrecyclable empty spools that were destined for the rubbish. I wondered what they could be used for and I thought it would be simple to turn them into an cake icing turntable / cake stand. The parts listed here fit the Amazon Basicfil filament spools and consist of: - a central tube that supports the top - an optional flat plate that slots into the grooves on the face of the upper spool. This plate can be attached to the bottom of the cake board to prevent the cake slipping when icing - optional drawers that slide into the spools for storing small nick nacks. The drawers slide into the spools with a bit of resistance to prevent them from falling out When using this as an icing turntable, the upper drawers are best removed as shown in the picture so that the cake can be revolved using the bottom face of the upper spool.
