Deacon Poole developed the Ice-Grip shoe attachment at Grand Haven High School, Grand Haven, Michigan, under instructor Jeremy Case's guidance. This innovative solution tackles the problem of ice-related accidents, which caused 42,000 workplace injuries in 2014. The Ice-Grip is a versatile attachment that fits most shoes or boots and features five studs along the sole for grip. These studs are connected by a Nylon Cordura band and a central tab, allowing for easy tightening and loosening. Designed with safety in mind, the studs have grooves and are 3D printed from Polycarbonate plastic to provide high impact resistance without sharp metal points or blades. This makes the Ice-Grip a reliable, reusable, and affordable choice for everyone facing snowy and icy conditions.
