ICE Filament drawers + Stand + template All you need to recycle your ICE filament spools (750 gr.) into a drawer system : Drawers with 1, 2 or 3 compartments, full and half heigth. Stand that can be printed on small-platform printers. Template for drilling holes in the spools. Instructions : SPOOLS Using the template, drill 4 holes on 1 face of the spool : Insert a short M2 bolt or 2mm nail in the smallest hole of the template. Use a Dremel or other tool to drill a 2mm pilot hole through the largest opening of the template. Turn the template 90 degrees untill the bolt or nail catches in the hole. etc. Afterwards use a 6 or 6.5mm drill to enlarge the 2mm pilot holes. DRAWERS Print 4 full-height drawers OR 8 half-height drawers OR a combination of both... per spool. The drawers are mounted inside the spools using M5 x 50 bolts. No need for these bolts to go through the bottom of the spool. SPOOL STAND : Spacers are used to keep the spools centered - the center hole of these spacers is tight (M8) Feel free to widen if you want the spools to spin around easier. These spacers are composed of 1 center-cylinder and 2 flanges - assemble 1 center and 2 flanges into 1 spacer. Print (number of spools -1) spacer-parts (in-between the spools). Press center part inside 2 flange-rings - see pictures. Print 2 HALF-height spacers (they sit at the top and bottom of the stack of spools) - therefore print the center-cylinder at 50% height and add 1 flange. Print 1 top-handle (or any other 'knob' for M8 you can find on Thingiverse that can serve as a handle). Print 1 Stand center (either round or triangular). Print 3 legs. Use super glue and 2mm bolts to assemble the stand base (center + 3 legs) - make sure the large opening with the hex nut faces down. Insert an M8 nut with or without glue. Cut a threaded M8 rod of 29.5 cm (in this example for a stack of 4 spools). Cut a longer or shorter M8 threaded rod as needed if you want more or less spools in the stack. Install the M8 rod in the stand base. Next install a half-height spacer on the stand and tighten it, flange touching the stand base. Add the first spool and a spacer. Repeat. On top of the last spool, install the last half-height spacer, flange facing up. Install the handle - I used an M8 cap nut but a normal M8 nut will do. Enjoy !
