Ice Fidget Spinner Mold
thingiverse
Please vote for my project: https://www.instructables.com/contest/fidgetspinner/design/Ice-Fidget-Spinner-Mold/ I set out to create something truly unique for the fidget spinner design contest. I didn't want to simply add another feature to an existing design, so I decided to take a bold approach. I designed a mold from flexible filament that would allow me to craft an ice fidget spinner. Why an ice fidget spinner? It's simple - I wanted to think outside the box and push the boundaries of what's possible. Additionally, I considered ecological design principles learned in my product design class on Instructables. The idea was to create a product that wouldn't harm the environment. When it melts, there's nothing left but pure water. Before finalizing my model, I experimented with two different versions. My first attempt was a large black mold made from PLA, but unfortunately, it was impossible to remove the spinner from it. Undeterred, I decided to try again using flexible filament. The first version of the flex mold had a filled center, which made it difficult to remove the spinner - although it was possible. To improve the design, I created a third version without the filled center. This one works beautifully and makes it easy to extract your spinner from the mold. I hope you'll take a moment to review my project! Thanks for reading, and have a great day.
