The World Cup Champion Trophy, the ultimate prize in cricket's biggest stage, is proudly presented to the triumphant team that dominates the tournament finals. The present-day trophy, designed with meticulous craftsmanship for the 1999 championships, marks a historic milestone as the first permanent trophy ever bestowed upon winners; previously, individual trophies were crafted specifically for each World Cup. British silversmith Paul Marsden's vision brought the Trophy to life under Garrard & Co's skilled craftsmen, who poured their hearts and expertise into creating this masterpiece over a span of two months. Born in London, the silver-gold masterpiece showcases a stunning golden sphere balanced elegantly on three regal silver pillars. The pillars, ingeniously designed to mimic cricket stumps and bails, masterfully symbolize cricket's foundational pillars: batting, bowling, and fielding. Meanwhile, the gleaming golden orb captures the essence of the very ball at the heart of the sport. The Trophy's imposing presence stands at 60 cm tall, a robust testament to its solidity with a weight of approximately 11 kilograms. Every World Cup Champion has earned the honor of their name etched on the Trophy's base; in recognition, twenty winners can find permanent mention. Securely safeguarded by the International Cricket Council is the original trophy, preserved as a cherished memory of each edition's pinnacle moment. Yet every winner claims a precise replica – one that mirrors its brethren in form and stature except for the list of names etched upon it – a timeless token of triumph.
