Remnants of an old WW2 signals station can be discovered on Ibsley Common. Although originally set up as part of Middle Wallop airfield direction finding assets, it was reassigned to Ibsley airfield in the early 1940s. During the 1950s and 60s a beacon here guided international air traffic safely through the skies. The HF-DF blast wall, accommodation block foundations, bunker, and a cable trench leading to the center post still remain intact today.
