iBrake Remote Braking System for Kids Bikes (Brick Compatible)
thingiverse
This brilliant idea struck me like a bolt of lightning from my dad's brain. I adore letting my daughters ride their bikes, but then again, I also worry that they might stray too far from home. The iBrake system lets them enjoy their freedom while giving me peace of mind knowing that I can stop their bikes remotely from up to 100 metres away! The ingenious system consists of two main parts: the iBrake (servo and actuator) and the iBrick (the battery pack, Blynk Board, and brick-compatible lid). Why not take your cherished minifigures with you wherever you go? Remember, Lego is for life, not just for Christmas! By using the Blynk Board and Blynk custom iOS app, I can activate the brake and also turn on the 12 LED lights that surround the iBrick. I chose super-bright white LEDs to ensure safety and visibility. The lights flash when the brake has been applied, providing a visual cue that the brake has been deployed. I printed the housings at 0.2mm with 20% infill, while the Rack and Pinion were printed at 80% infill with three perimeters for extra strength. The Rack should be oriented to give it the necessary strength not to shred the teeth. After printing, the two rack parts should be superglued together. This amazing invention actually works, costs about £40 in parts, and could prevent your child from getting into any unnecessary scrapes. How I Designed This
