I got an old iBook G3 a while back that was missing the hard drive, along with its tray, and also had a bad CD drive. I wanted to upgrade it to a slot-loading Superdrive, but needed a faceplate to cover it. These are the designs for a hard drive tray and DVD faceplate that I made. Both seem to fit well. You might need to sand the lower corners of the faceplate a bit, it was hard getting the profile just right. The faceplate can be glued in place or maybe use a bit of double sided tape.
