The IBM 5100 Portable Computer, released in 1975, was the first portable minicomputer and precursor to the IBM PC. It evolved from a prototype called SCAMP developed at the IBM Palo Alto Scientific Center in 1973. In January 1978, IBM announced its larger cousin, the IBM 5110, followed by the IBM 5120 in February 1980. The 5100 was discontinued in March 1982. The 3D model of the IBM 5100 Portable Computer is of high quality, suitable for close-up renderings. It features only triangles and quads with correct topology. In addition to the 5100 model, files for the larger IBM 5110 and 5120 are also available. The 3D model was created in 3ds Max 2011 and can be opened in 3ds Max 2010 with mental ray renderer. A ready-to-render file includes additional polygons for more realistic rendering. The model has been exported to various formats, including FBX, 3DS, and OBJ with default renderers. The IBM 5100 model utilizes a total of nine textures, with five at 2048x2048 pixels, one at 1600x1600 pixels, two at 1024x1024 pixels, and one thumbnail-sized texture. For thumbnails, mental ray renderer is used. The total poly count for the IBM 5100 Portable Computer 3D model is 20,482 polygons with 20,953 vertices. Of these, 1,032 are triangles (5.16%), while 18,936 are quads (94.83%). The model does not contain non-planar faces or overlapping vertices.
