The IAR 80 was a Romanian World War II low-wing, monoplane, all-metal monocoque fighter and ground-attack aircraft, comparable to contemporary designs such as the German Messerschmitt Bf 109E, British Hawker Hurricane Mk.I, and American Curtiss P-40B/Tomahawk Mk.I; it was even superior to the Dutch Fokker D.XXI and Polish PZL P.24. Regardless of its early 1939 prototype flight, production issues and scarce weaponry delayed its service entry until 1941, with front-line use continuing until 1944 (Wikipedia as the source).
