i3 Rework with e3d v6 hot end mount tight fit
thingiverse
This is a remix of my original Wade's extruder design, featuring an E3D V6 setup with less space between the cold end and hot end. I sourced the main extruder design from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:257811 , combined it with a modified E3D hot end mount from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:425352, and adapted the i3 Vanilla X-carriage rework mounting holes found on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:437694 . Thank you all for your input. Updates: Posted online August 23rd, 2014. Please note that this design is specifically for direct extruder E3D V6 hot ends with 3mm filament. It will not fit bowden setups. Additional edits added: **Make modifications needed:** You must move the Y end stop to a different location or slightly adjust the threaded rods in order to accommodate the change. Be aware that this extruder reduces clearance between the heated bed and the X axis (or the carriage), significantly reducing working space. Edit: I plan to post an alternative version featuring a smaller component designed specifically for locking the hot end into place. Currently, you may need to trim it down to ensure a snug fit.
