i3 Mega Fan Duct for V6 Hotend (No Cover)
thingiverse
I have tested a few part cooling duct designs for my i3 Mega-S, and after printing two I didn't like I sorta just gave up and turned my fan speed up to 100% to compensate. I never found the ideal part cooling duct... that is, until I found the one from brunoosti. There were a couple of problems, though: 1. It required the purchase of a new blower. I am broke and this is not feasible. 2. You had to print the whole thing in one piece, hotend cover and all. I just wanted a duct that could screw onto the blower fan like the original stock one. So, I made these improvements. You can now just print the duct, use the original blower and screws, and slap this bad boy onto the hotend. It's fast to print, easier to install, uses less filament, and still while retaining the great cooling ability of the original. You're welcome :-) UPDATE 3/17/2021 - V2 The airflow to the right side of the duct is now improved. Don't print the new one if you already printed the V1, but if you haven't printed one yet use the V2. UPDATE 3/20/2021 - V2 Reinforced Especially if you are printing in PLA, the V2 design can warp because of the hotend temperature. The reinforced model just adds more structure in the back of the duct (away from the heat). UPDATE 3/27/2021 - V3 I made an adjustment so the duct will sit perfectly flush with the cover. I also added a hole that goes around the bottom right screw of the hotend fan so the duct is now secured from both sides and cannot sag.
