i3 Filament Spool Holder - 608 bearings (BETA)

This is a filament spool holder I designed specifically for the stock Monoprice Maker Select (i3) spool bracket, utilizing a pair of 608 (skateboard) bearings to make it easier to move the spool around. I've had an eSun 1kg PLA spool on it for over 24 hours now, and everything has worked out fine so far. It's still in early development stages, so use caution when trying it out! Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice Maker Select (i3) Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 50% Notes: I printed this with 50% infill for added strength, since most of the spool weight is concentrated on the thinnest part of the plastic. Printed in PLA Required Parts: 2x M3 x 5mm screws 2x 608 Bearings (8mm ID, 22mm OD) First, place the first bearing down into the barrel of the larger spindle. You may need to apply a bit of force depending on how accurate your printer is. Next, place the second bearing onto the smaller spindle and run it all the way down to the flange. Again, be prepared to use some force or sandpaper to get a smoother finish on the small shaft. Carefully attach the two pieces together, making sure that the small spindle aligns perfectly with the ID of the bearing inside the larger spindle. I had to pull the two pieces apart slightly so the bearings would spin freely. Now, place the large end of the smaller spindle into the bracket and secure it using the 2 x M3 screws. Put the filament spool onto the spindle and make sure it's holding up. Give it a spin and check for any drooping or sagging. You wouldn't want the part to fail in the middle of a long print! Enjoy!
