i3 Charge Port Triangular Folding Cover

This is a concept for a folding cover for the i3 charging ports. The door for the i3 opens to the right. If you leave your vehicle out overnight or in a parking lot while it is snowing the charge cable can become covered in ice and snow. This is an inconvenience. This concept would be printed in at least two materials. The frame would be prototyped in ABS. It would adhere to a small area around the ports and the door using an adhesive. The cover would be printed in the Agilus30 rubber like material. The cover would be kinematically optimized to fold and stow easily in the allotted space. When deployed the rubber could be slightly jostled so that the buildup of ice and snow can be removed and not impact the function of the folding cover.
