I made a fischertechnik enclosure for this HT16K33 based I2C LED dot matrix module [I found at aliexpress](https://de.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=1088AS+HT16K33) a while ago, it seems the matrix goes by the name of "1088AS", the PCB is labeled "HW-571". You'll have to desolder the connector and connect the G(nd), V(3.3), SDA (D) and SCL (C) pads to a 2x3 male pin header soldered onto a 5x2 piece of perfboard as shown. I damaged two of the pads while desoldering the original connector, so I had to solder SDA and SCL directly to the chip. My version came with faulty wiring of two of the LED rows. I fixed that by desoldering pins 5 and 7 of the chip, gently lifting and deconnecting them from their pads and connecting them to their correct LED matrix pins with two short wires (see pictures, white and brown wires).
