I-19 Submarine

The Imperial Japanese Navy's Aircraft Carrier Submarine I-19 is a fascinating vessel that played a crucial role in the Guadalcanal Campaign. As a member of the B-1 class submarines, it was designed to gather intelligence and engage in direct combat. One notable achievement of this ship was sinking the American aircraft carrier USS Wasp. This model of the I-19 submarine was created using papercraft patterns as templates in SketchUp. To ensure accuracy, historical files were consulted, guaranteeing that the model's measurements are precise. Two models are available for printing: one depicting the submarine in a submerged state and another showing it surfaced, with options to change periscopes, flags, and cranes. The creator is considering adding additional details to the model, including a base for the ship and a replica of the plane it carried. The process of creating this model took approximately two months, involving extensive work on details and video rendering. The result is a highly detailed model that requires high-resolution printing and dense filling to bring out its intricacies. The creator expresses enthusiasm for Japanese ships and is eagerly waiting for Wargaming to include the I-19 submarine in World of Warships. In the meantime, the model is available in SketchUp's 3D Warehouse at https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/9b235761-50a4-4190-99da-d6d8f55c0e49/IJN-I-19-Submarine
