For those billions of people out there who just happen to: 1. drive an FD model Hyundai i30 with a flip-top pocket on the dashboard 2. use a Navman EZY255LMT GPS (or with similar 3 mounting notches) 3. would like to use the top dashboard pocket for something truly cool 4. have access to a 3D printer You are in luck! Here's a GPS mount that hangs off the catch in the lid of the dashboard top pocket and holds your GPS securely, the weight of the GPS holding the lid down to a non-intrusive height, providing precious shade and a nice enclosure enhancing your GPS volume. The images are of the GPS, OEM GPS mount with suction cup, mounting location and my new 3D printed custom GPS mount. As for cabling, the EZY255LMT uses live traffic information via radio broadcasts using its charging cable as an antenna, so my usual approach of eliminating the unsightly OEM cable-to-the-lighter clutter by customising power delivery was somewhat curtailed. I opted to preserve the original 1-piece 12V lighter adapter and antenna/charging cable and routed it neatly under the dash mat straight across to the fuse box, where the adapter's contacts were wired to suitable fuse contacts, achieving the combination of functionality and invisibility I enjoy.
