Hypnos - Almedinilla
sketchfab
Text rewritten for American English: Bronze sculpture discovered in the Roman Villa of Ruedo, Almedinilla (Córdoba), made using the lost wax technique is a Roman sculpture found in a late imperial context but by its style it would be more attributable to an early imperial chronology with strong Hellenistic influence around 200 BCE. \nIt represents Hypnos for the Greeks and Somnus for the Romans, personification of sleep in mythology son of Nyx and twin brother of Thanatos death. Among its attributes what stands out most are its wings on its head, and it would also carry a horn in one hand to scatter night and in the other a bunch of sleepy-inducing flowers to produce sleep in mortals. It is also god of sweet death, responsible for transporting souls.\nThe original sculpture is located at the Archaeological Museum of Almedinilla (Córdoba, Spain), this photogrammetric model has been made from a very faithful replica of the original. \nSource: https://www.ge-iic.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/06/Bouzas_Ana.pdf
