HyperX Clould II - open back mod

HyperX Clould II - open back mod

I love the sound quality of my HyperX Cloud II headphones. However, they caused me severe ear pain due to their excellent isolation, like a pressure feeling inside my ears. I've been looking for open back headset but there are not many alternatives, at least with the sound quality and in the same price range of the HyperX. I've then decided to mod my HyperX Cloud, by making it open backs. This think just provides the (open) lids for the headphones cups. 2 versions are included, with different hexagonal pattern orientation. For a better quality, this this should be printed vertically or horizontally, and not faced to the bed!! The use of supports and brim (rafts) is recommended. Average printing time 2h. Here some instructions for the mod: 1 - remove the cushion pads 2 - open up the headphone cups, by removing the 4 screws. 3 - unfold the 4 metal parts that will allow to remove the original metal headphone cup lids 4 - Dremel out (with care) the plastic part with oval shape, as shown in the image. 5 - Put all together again, and apply the 3D printed parts. Note: for a better sound experience, it is recommend to keep in place the largest soft sponge found inside the cups.
